From the Studio

On June 22nd, award winning textile artist and fashion designer (and SDA member) Katherine Soucie of Sans Soucie along with the (zero.O.lab) society, a non-profit zero waste textile research collective, will host a one day fundraising event to assist the recently cancelled Textile Arts Program at Capilano University.

Sponsored in part by Granville Island Tea Company, From the Studio will transform the studio/showroom of Sans Soucie into a fundraising installation where textile art, fashion/accessories, pottery, illustration and drawings will be for sale via silent auction. Former alumni from the program such as Ms. Soucie of Sans Soucie, Lexi Soukoreff of Daub and Design and Risa Salsberg of Edible Poetry have donated work alongside other local makers and businesses in the attempt to raise money for a scholarship.  Proceeds from this event will establish a scholarship for one graduating student from the final graduating class of the Textile Arts Program at Capilano University (Spring 2014). This will provide assistance in helping an emerging artist purchase equipment or to further studies in the field.

The (zero.O.lab) society will continue efforts in promoting textile arts in the community of Vancouver in the form of research, workshops and installations.  This event will kick off a series of upcoming events where zero waste, textiles, fashion and art will come together and inspire the City of Vancouver.
