There are several SDA BC meetings planned for the near future:

Next Sunshine Coast meeting:
Jan 25th, 2012, starting at 11am, at Anne Gregory's place in Secehlt.
As usual this will include a pot luck lunch. We don't have a particular presentation or theme planned, but I'm sure many people will have newly completed projects or printed fabric or Christmas gifts (books?) to share with us, and I suspect we haven't heard all the news about workshops or lectures experienced during a very busy fall this year. Also if you've done any more thinking or sketching or sample-making or project work on your ethnically-inspired journal or textile project, please bring along anything you'd like to share with the group.

Next Vancouver meeting:

Feb. 7, 2012, starting 7pm; at Catherine Nicholls' home:

718 4th Street East, North Vancouver, V7L 1K2
Phone: 604 351 9118.

As always please bring show-and-tell (newly completed projects, printed fabrics, new books) and info about any upcoming exhibitions etc. Anne-Marie, Brigitte and Ros may have some “headdress’ pieces completed to show us – inspiration for everyone to start thinking and working on a piece for one of our planned upcoming exhibitions (more info on that soon). The idea for this show came from an exhibition of work by Nick Cave in juxtaposition with a show of African headdresses (see example of ethnic headdress left and Nick Cave's Soundsuits below).

Next Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands group meeting:
March 1, 2012  10:30 am. Studio G Art, 7298 Somenos Road, Duncan, BC.  They will do a critique exercise at the beginning of the meeting, and then discuss their upcoming show, among other business.
Several members of VISDA are participating in the exhibition shown in this poster:
