The Art of Fashion

The Art of Fashion returns to Deep Cove, North Vancouver, April 1, 2012.

What better way to celebrate spring than to enjoy the colourful art wear and accessories presented by some of Vancouver’s finest artists. Dresses and coats, jackets, vests, sweaters, shawls and hats, bags, and don’t forget the jewelry; these are a few of the wonderful things that will be on display at the Art of Fashion show and sale.

Sponsored by FibreEssence and the committee for Wearable Arts Vancouver, the event will be a fundraiser for the Seymour ArtGallery The Art of Fashion will take place at the Seymour as well as at Artemis Studio Gallery, and Cove Creek Gallery, all located on Gallant Avenue in Deep Cove, North Vancouver. The event will run from 2 to 4:30pm on the Sunday afternoon.

There will be a parade of fashions between 2:30 and 3:30, in the Artemis Studio space, and afternoon tea, for $5, will be available at the Seymour.  All items on exhibit will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds from sales benefiting the Seymour.

These images show wearable art created by Ros Aylmer.

Don’t miss this Grand Spring Event. Fashion, food, and fun will all be on display the afternoon of April 1, in Deep Cove – no fooling!

Yvonne Wakabayashi, one of our BC SDA members, has recently been featured in a new book called Shibori Recreated, by Karen Davis.  This book was the result of the Love Lace exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia, still on and perhaps extended. The images below show the book cover and one of the Yvonne's wearable pieces in the exhibition.

You can see a recent preview plus some images from the book here. "Expand" the current issue and look at page 18. Actually if you're into home decor this is quite a good mag.
